Staybridge brings extended stay downtown

Atlanta Business Chronicle - January 18, 2008 - by Susan T. Smith Staff Writer

Staybridge Suites will soon call the southeast corner of Courtland Street and Linden Avenue home. The hotel will be part of the mixed-use, high-rise project Staybridge Suites Atlanta Midtown. …

The project will include the 152-suite hotel, four condominiums at the top of the building, space for a restaurant and retail stores and a covered parking area, said Paul Breslin, managing partner of Panther Hospitality Holdings LLC, a hotel consultant practice.

Breslin says suites will run at a rate of about $135-$145 a night. In addition to amenities found at most other hotels, Breslin said the new Staybridge Suites will have a home theater room, the suites will include kitchens, and complimentary breakfast will be served daily.

The hotel project owes much of its existence to the Atlanta Development Authority, Eastside Tax Allocation District and Central Atlanta Progress, which have helped make the development possible through funding, said Breslin.

"Without the TAD, CAP and the Atlanta Development Authority ... the project just wouldn't work," said Breslin. "That's a transitional area in town and so we believe this will be one [way] to get more investors into that part of town," added Breslin.
